
The first official severe thunderstorms of 2015 swept through Marion County earlier this evening.
The KNIA/KRLS Severe Weather Action Team was on the air and online at 5 p.m., with live coverage from our studios in Knoxville. Our trained weather spotters and WeatherEye Meteorologists were also calling in live updates. KNIA/KRLS News received reports of large hail near Harvey, Bussey, Tracy, Peoria, and County Highway T-17 near the intersection of Highway 92. Three warnings were prompted, the first in the northeastern part of Marion County until 5:30 p.m., the second for the eastern part of the county until 6:15, and the final warning for the southeastern portion until 6:30 p.m. Flash flooding and rainfall totals exceeding two inches were reported near New Sharon in Mahaska County.
