The LifeServe Blood Center in Des Moines recently congratulated 2015 high school graduates who donated one gallon of blood before graduating.
The local “Gallon Grads” are: Daniel Thompson, Sally Ropes, and Kyle Strong from Pella High; Matthew Rossler and Caleb Attema from Pella Christian; and Charles Jordan from Pleasantville. Students had to make eight whole blood or four double red cell donations before graduation to earn the distinction, which is equivalent to helping save the lives of approximately 24 different hospital patients.
