It was a rough night on the diamonds for both the baseball and softball teams for Twin Cedars. Each squad fell to Moravia in low-scoring affairs. The Saber girls dropped 3 – 1; senior Mackenzie Sedlock threw well, says head coach, Zack Dunkin, but took the hard-luck loss in the center circle, allowing just one earned run. Katelynn Bakalar scored the team’s only run of the game. Twin Cedars baseball fell 4 – 1 in the late going. The Sabers held a 1 – 0 lead until the sixth, when the Mohawks scored two runs, then added two more in the seventh. Trace Embray was the pitcher of record, throwing a complete game and allowing two earned runs on three hits with four strikeouts. Jake Knox was 2-for-3 at the plate, with a single and a double. Saber softball drops to 5 – 8, the baseball team is now 10 – 2; the girls are in North Mahaska today for a tournament, while the boys are off until Monday to play at Principal Park to take on Martensdale – St. Mary’s.
