The City of Pleasantville saw a 60 percent reduction in their electric bill from Mid-American because of a change to LED bulbs in their street lamps.
City Administrator Joe Mrstik says the lights were replaced by the Pleasantville Public Works department, courtesy of a grant to remove their old outdoor lights.
Mrstik says they’re looking at the possibility of creating more LED lighting along the walking path around Cora Shadle Memorial Park. He adds the city will continue to apply for these types of grants as a way to better the community.
