The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory from 1 to 7 p.m.
Heat index values are expected to top 100 degrees. The combination of heat and high humidity will create a situation in which heat-related illness is possible. Residents are reminded to stay hydrated, remain in air conditioning whenever possible, stay out of the sun, and check in with relatives and neighbors. Those working outdoors should take frequent breaks and wear light-weight and loose-fitting clothing when possible.
Strong thunderstorms are expected after another hot day Saturday, with a slight risk of severe thunderstorms in the area according to the Storm Prediction Center. Damaging winds and heavy rainfall are the primary threats.
Cooler weather is expected by Monday. Stay tuned to KNIA/KRLS for the latest weather information.
