Pella is ranked as one of the top 100 small towns in the United States to live in.

The tulip city was ranked 19th on a livability.com list of best cities to live in with populations of less than 20,000 people. The digital magazine cites Pella’s Dutch heritage and tourism attractions, proximity to Lake Red Rock, the Pella Opera House, downtown shopping and Pella Community Schools as factors considered for their placement on the list. Pella also earned the highest ranking among six Iowa towns featured.
