A pair of area wineries were honored at competition for Midwest wines.
Seven medals, including two gold, were recently awarded to Tassel Ridge Winery at the 2015 Mid-American Wine Competition in Ankeny.
The competition is among wineries from 18 states across the Midwest.
Tassel Ridge earned gold in the Best Sweet White Wine category for their Iowa La Crescent and in the food/wine pairing category for their Oskyfizzante Pink paired with strawberries with creme anglaise.
Nearwood Winery took home a silver medal in the Best Label Image category for their wine, Fight, which also won a bronze medal in the Frontenac Gris category.
