The Pleasantville Baseball squad this year had an extraordinary 33-3 record, including four postseason wins. The formula for the Trojans success this season was not hard to find, outstanding pitching.

The top four pitchers of the Trojan staff this year in Josh Luna, Zeb Adreon, Jesse Nichols, and Nate Sowers sport a combined 30-1 record on the season, with the one loss coming from 3A school Bondurant-Farrar in which Nichols gave up only 1 run through 6 innings. The four pitchers have combined to throw 200 innings and have only given up 23 earned runs all year, holding opponents to a batting average of only .123 and striking out an outstanding 261 batters. Pleasantville Head Coach Sheldon Card said he has trouble deciding who to start sometimes.

“I have been asked all year who our number one guy is, and I really dont have an answer for that, but it really is special to have those guys on the mound” Card told KNIA/KRLS Sports.

Pleasantville has mainly leaned on the services of Senior Josh Luna and Junior Zeb Adreon to carry them through the postseason, but others have contributed as well including Nate Sowers throwing a no hitter in their postseason opener against Melcher-Dallas. As they move on to play at Principal Park for a shot at the state tournament, the Trojans will need their biggest strength to come through for them if they want to walk away a state champion.
