A Knoxville man has been charged for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend last month.

50-year-old Daniel James Burke is facing charges of domestic abuse – assault impeding air flow, a Class D felony, and 1st degree harassment.

According to court documents, Burke go into a verbal argument with the victim at a home on Lincoln Street. The victim told police Burke grabbed her by the hair with both hands and pushed her against a wall, then put his forearm against her throat, making it difficult to breathe and causing her pain. He then attempted to keep the victim from calling 911.
