Numerous awards are pouring in for local residents at the 2015 Iowa State Fair.

Bob Kroese of Pella earned Best of Show honors in the Woodcarving division and also took first place in four other divisions in the annual Wood Projects contest. Steve Bennett earned top honors for his stylized human figure in the same competition.

Brenda Becker of Pella took First Place Overall in the “O Come All Ye Cookies” competition. She was also awarded first place in the Christmas Cookie Plate and Other Holiday Cookie Plate categories.

Carole Miller of Otley won first place and a $250 cash award in the Bud Elwell’s Old Fashioned Fudge competition, judged Thursday at the 2015 Iowa State Fair. She also took first in two categories of the Candy Makers.

Hollis Perdan of Monroe won Best of Show honors in the Mead & Cider division with his Mulberry Melomel in the brewing competitions. Alexander Thomas of Pella earned a first place spot in the Dark and Amber Lagers category.
