With an opening available on the Knoxville School Board, former Knoxville Chamber of Commerce executive director Larissa VanDonselaar has decided to seek the position.

Member Tim McDonald decided not to run for re-election, creating the opening.

VanDonselaar believes the board has done a fine job over the last year and would like to be part of the solution. She thinks it’s great that the district is expanding West Elementary and wants to see how the project will help offset the large classroom sizes that are being dealt with currently.

Incumbents Leslie Miller and Mike Helle are also running for the Knoxville School Board.

The Knoxville School Board elections will take place on Tuesday, September 8th. We have more from VanDonselaar on Let’s Talk Knoxville.
