The Pella School Board began the process of setting goals for the 2015-16 school year at a work session Monday.

Superintendent Greg Ebeling says the board hopes to continue many goals from last year.

“One of the things they talked about is continuing on with a large amount of board learning,” Ebeling says.

“They also had a large conversation around how we interact with our legislators, and to continue to do that, trying some grassroot efforts with local parents and grandparents. We want to encourage them to connect with our local legislators and help impact what happens in Des Moines,” Ebeling says.

Ebeling says they also plan to have more question-and-answer sessions with teachers to discuss new and ongoing programs. The board also began the process of evaluating an early-retirement program, which will be reviewed at their meeting on Monday.
