Hegwood, Adam James

Felony charges have been filed against a Knoxville man after several stolen items were discovered during a traffic stop last week.

29-year-old Adam James Hegwood has been charged with 3rd degree burglary, a Class D felony, possession of contraband, also a Class D felony, and possession of prescriptions drugs without a prescription.

According to court documents, Hegwood was stopped in his vehicle at Pleasant and Harlan around 8pm on August 14th, for not having a license plate. After it was discovered Hegwood also didn’t have insurance and the vehicle would have to be towed, a Knoxville Police Officer conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered over $1200 worth of electronics stolen from a home earlier in the day.

Hegwood also had a baggie of pills on him and later a rock of meth was found in his cigarette box.

Hegwood is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
