
Ridge McGinley of Pella has advanced to the Bill Riley Talent Search finals at this year’s Iowa State Fair.
He performed a lyrical dance in the quarterfinals, and will hit the stage at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Many other local residents are earning top honors at this year’s fair.
Evelyn Beyer of Otley was awarded the prestigious Ruth Van Den Baard Award in the Senior Citizens division of the Fabric and Threads contest.
It is given to exhibitors who are at least 80 years of age when the item they submitted was completed. Atticus Vos of Pella earned more than a dozen top placing finishes for his produce in the fruit crop judging.
Jasey Olson of Pella won first place in the ages 6-10 division in the Build A Burrito contest, in which contestants were asked to create either a breakfast, entrée or dessert burrito using a wrap.
