Residents will soon tending to their yards in preparation of upcoming fall weather.

Knoxville Community Service Officer (CSO) Arlene Worrell reminds citizens that the burning of yard waste is permitted within the Knoxville City Limits. She says when doing a controlled burn, a water source is needed nearby, it must be supervised by an adult, burning can only take place on your own property, and only yard debris, such as small twigs and branches, leaves, and grass clippings, can be burned.

Worrell encourages residents to notify Marion County Dispatch before you plan a controlled burn. Pella doesn’t allow burning within the city limits unless it’s a declared emergency.
