The process of finding a way to keep the Fallen Soldier Memorial at Knoxville’s Freedom Rock as it currently stands could be a long one.

Interim City Manager Aaron Adams says this is particularly true in the case of trying to privatize the land. He says a lot of research must be done because the issue is so complex.

Adams says research is being done with the city’s legal representative, Dorsey-Whitney, who is helping the city pro bono, on how best to privatize that land. He says staff will also look at other ways to protect the memorial and present those recommendations to the city council.
