A Knoxville woman is facing charges for possessing drugs and a stolen item.
Charges were filed against 43-year-old Jennifer Lea Cecil for possession of contraband, a Class D felony, assault on a peace officer, carrying weapons, possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, and 5th degree theft.
According to court documents, Knoxville police responded to a call at Hy-Vee just after 2am Tuesday for a person who had allegedly been shoplifting. Subsequent searches of Cecil’s purse found the stolen item, along with a pair of hypodermic syringes that tested positive for meth, and a fixed knife with a blade longer than 5 inches, after she’d been transported to Marion County Jail.
Cecil was also reportedly uncooperative, kicking and punching multiple jailers when they asked her to change her clothes.
She’s scheduled to appear in court Friday, Sept. 18th.
