A local mentoring organization is holding a special race this month to benefit their programs.

Journey Up Mentoring of Pella (JUMP) will host their Heroes 5K at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the Central College Kuyper Athletics Complex. JUMP Board President George Clark encourages race participants to dress up as their favorite heroes, and says door prizes will randomly be awarded for those runners or walkers wearing costumes.

“We thought our mentors are heroes, and we believe are mentees are heroes in waiting,” Clark says. “We thought we would have a theme of superheroes this year.”
