The Knoxville Cancer Relay will begin Thursday and the event is staying in the local area this year.
Knoxville Mayor and team member Brian Hatch says the team has chosen a new 5-mile loop route that will keep participants around the city of Knoxville for their 24-hour run as way to get more local community involvement in the event.
Last year’s relay, which was a run across the state of Iowa, raised over $17,000 for Knoxville Coaches vs Cancer.
The 2015 Knoxville Cancer Relay will be at Young’s Park and the KNIA/KRLS Big Red Radio will be on hand providing music and making announcements for the event.
The relay will finish up at Ken Locke Stadium before the varsity football game against Pella Friday.
