Employees at Pella Corp spent their time sprucing up a park with special significance to the company’s founders.

Communications Manager Karmen Gardner tells KNIA/KRLS News their volunteers have spent the past few weeks at Big Rock Park, which was donated to the city by Pete and Lucille Kuyper in 1958.

“We’re hard workers, we’re very dedicated to our community, and we were very volunteer oriented, which is what Pete and Lucille taught us,” Gardner says.

She says they spent time replacing culverts and bridges, clearing brush from trails, and mulching to improve the park for users.

Gardner thanked the city’s parks department for their assistance in setting up the volunteer days.
