District 79 Representative Guy Vander Linden says the Iowa House and Senate will begin determining budget items as soon as they convene.

He says the primary item of concern will be school funding, which he says will be determined by what the state can afford. Vander Linden says a two percent increase in supplemental state aid next academic year was passed by the House in last year’s bill, and the Senate could pass that as soon as the session starts. Vander Linden will join fellow Representative Greg Heartsill and State Senators Ken Rozenboom and Amy Sinclair at a Legislative Roundtable with the Pella School Board on Tuesday at 5 p.m. in the Pella High School Media Center.
