Many in the area have started the new year with the goal of getting fit.
Barry Westerkamp with Anytime Fitness says this is the time of year many people begin to think about their health and overall fitness, and a New Year’s Resolution is a great place to start.
“Sometimes people will say ‘I don’t set a resolution’–I think it’s actually a good thing,” he says. “People are a little more motivated to start something and really the key is to keep the motivation going–not for it to just be something that you get excited about for a short period of time.”
Westerkamp says it is necessary to have patience, and stick with an exercise program long term. The problem, he says, is those starting out are trying to do too much at once.
