While managed Medicaid and school spending will be big issues to begin the 2016 Iowa Legislative Session, many legislators have other topics to work on.

State Senator Ken Rozenboom says he’s been a staunch opponent of any state funds being used for abortions, and he would like to see the state change the way it handles how they are paid for.

Rozenboom wants to cut funding to Planned Parenthood for any of their programs, but that would require the state to provide women’s health services.

“The way [Planned Parenthood] could be defunded in Iowa, is for Iowa to take over the family health care dollars, the federal dollars that are spent on that,” he says. “That’s at least a partial solution, and I would support that.”
