The Pella Planning and Zoning Commission will look to give their recommendation to the City Council as to whether or not allow additional taverns in the central business district at a special session Monday.

They will meet at 7 a.m. Monday in the Public Safety Complex to hold a public hearing and review an ordinance that would allow for taverns through a special use permit. Regardless of their decision, the matter will likely go to the Pella City Council at their next meeting on Tuesday, January 19th. Options were reviewed by the council after a request by a realtor to allow for the use after the Cellar Peanut Pub in Oskaloosa planned to purchase and open a new location on Franklin Street.
