Families First will hold their first book bash of 2016 this week.

The first 100 families with children at or under the age of five will receive a free copy of the book “I SPY Little Animals” from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Pella Public Library Saturday.

Director Jodi Bokhoven says the event ties into their participation in the Early Literacy Mentoring Association (ELMA), because developing core literacy skills in children is key by the time they are eight years old.

“That is the most viable time in their lives, where that information goes to their brains,” she says

The morning also includes crafts, activities, and information for parents.
