Nearly the entire police force for the city of Melcher-Dallas resigned at the city council meeting Monday night.

City staff tells KNIA/KRLS News that four police officers resigned, while one part-time officer agreed to stay on. Staff preferred not to give a reason for the resignations, but sources say the resignation relates to a scheduling conflict. A meeting has been scheduled for tonight at 7pm in City Hall, where the council will decide how to best proceed after the resignations. The Marion County Sheriff’s office continues to provide law enforcement in the city in the interim.
