The Little Hawkeye Conference play begins for the Pella Little and Lady Dutch tonight for a doubleheader with a familiar foe they had problems with early this year.
Dallas Center-Grimes makes the trip to Pella High School for a pair of games that could allow either team to control their conference championship destinies.
The 11-2 girls are looking to change the script from when the Fillies dominated them in a 42-28 Pella loss in December. Pella is 10-1 since their matchup with a defensive-minded DCG that’s giving up a paltry 37 points per game. The two girls teams are gridlocked in a three-way tie with Grinnell for the conference lead at 5-1.
Pella’s 11-1 boys flexed their muscle in the first half of their previous matchup with the 8-4 Mustangs, but faltered down the stretch, giving up 41 points in the final two period–but hung on to pick up a one point win. DCG, mired in a tie for 3rd place, is looking to repeat their second half efforts and complete an upset win to ding the unblemished conference record of Little Dutch.
Pella vs. DCG’s doubleheader begins at 6:15, with pregame starting at 6 on 92.1 KRLS.
