For 22 minutes nothing was going right for the Knoxville Girls Basketball Squad. The Panthers were trailing Centerville by nine with 2 1/2 minutes remaining in the game when the Panthers canned three-three point shots to tie the game at 35. The lead changed hands a couple more times and after two missed free throws by Centerville the Panthers finally grabbed the lead. That Sierra Findley shot gave Knoxville a 40-38 lead with 12 seconds remaining and after a couple of free throws, the Panthers walked away with a come-from-behind 42-38 win. Coach Jim Uitermarkt told KNIA/KRLS Sports Findley’s hard work was rewarded with the game winner. Carrie Chambers scored 15 points as the Panthers are now 12-5 on the season finish South Central Conference play at 10-2. It was a frustrating night for the Knoxville boys as the Panthers could never get anything going in a 62-45 loss to Centerville. The Big Reds outshot Knoxville 27-6 but Knoxville Coach Jeff Larson told KNIA/KRLS the Big Reds were more aggressive with the ball and got to the line. Knoxville falls to 9-6 on the season. Both Knoxville teams travel to Pella on Tuesday.
