Breaking a tough slump on Saturday, the Pella Christian boys’ basketball team joins the girls for one final regular season meet-up with Grinnell tonight.

The Eagles’ boys had lost five games in a row before trumping Van Meter, 72 – 61. Their run of futility has run further in the conference, unfortunately; PC has dropped eight consecutive Little Hawkeye Conference affairs, with their last win coming against Oskaloosa on December 11. They lost to Grinnell almost a month ago, despite 42 points from Levi Jungling. They gave up 85 points in that loss to the Tigers, and Coach Larry Hessing says history cannot repeat itself if his Eagles want to grab a conference win. Pella Christian’s girls played tough with a Top-15 ranked Tigers’ squad the first time around before faltering in the second half in a 68 – 45 defeat. The Eagle girls have just two games left before their opening round playoff game on Saturday versus North Mahaska. Today’s doubleheader can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS, KNIAKRLS.com, and via our free mobile app. Cory Houser and Wynne Veenstra will provide the play-by-play with pre-game coverage starting at 6:00 p.m. with tip-off at 6:15.
