A theme for the PCM Mustang Girls Basketball Squad this season has been “Identity and Process”.
The Identity portion focuses on girls finding out throughout the season where they fit into the team dynamic. With the two main point scorers departing to graduation from last years squad, this current version of the team had some holes to fill. Many girls were leaned upon to step up and be a scoring threat for the first time in their varsity careers. The top three scorers on this Mustang squad are all juniors, and none of them averaged over eight points per game last year. Kayla Jennings, now the leading scorer for the Mustangs at 11.7 points per game would grow into her role as a knockdown shooter evidenced as of late by a 21 point performance against conference power Gilbert, and a 20 point performance against Saydel. The Mustangs will open postseason play this Saturday at home against Clarke.
