The Knoxville City Council met in regular session Monday.

They approved Craig Kelley as a new council member, swore him in, and welcomed him to the council. They adopted a balanced budget for fiscal year 2017, and heard a report from the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber is requesting a continuation of the Self Supported Municipal Improvement District (SSMID) tax on downtown businesses that is used to improve storefronts. SSMID committee members reported on the many successful renovations that had occurred downtown.
