Students from Pella High School will perform in the All-State Speech Contest this Saturday at Iowa State University.

The group mime from Pella High consisting of of Junior Shounam (sue-nahm)Ches, Sophomore Jey Ches, and Senior Yong Yee Yang earned the nomination, which puts their group in the top 25 out of 600 across the state.

The student performers say group mime is the only speech contest in which speaking isn’t allowed, and expression is done through the face and body. They feel they earned high ratings because of their previous dance experience. They are scheduled to perform at 12:35 p.m. in the Scheman Building in Ames.
