After ending their season last Saturday night with a 35-49 loss to Martensdale-St. Mary’s in the first round of class 2A regionals the Pleasantville Trojan Girls Basketball team will do the same as every other high school basketball team that doesn’t win a state tournament, start looking ahead to next year.
The Trojans will graduate only two seniors, Bailey Oliva and Kylee Stecker, and the majority of their starting lineup was comprised sophomores in Kelsee Van Haalen, Corinne Thomas and Madyson Thill. The trio ranked first, third, and fourth in scoring on the squad and provided the majority of the ball handling duties for the Trojans. The contributions of Oliva and Stecker should not be taken lightly, with Oliva second in scoring and first in rebounding and Stecker being the emotional leader of the team and was a calming presence for the underclassman on the court, but Coach Aaron Fichter said that the underclassman girls had a great example to learn from for the future. A full recap of the Trojans season can be head on the Knoxville Hyvee Radio Coaches Corner in the coming weeks.
