Staying back and waiting for Newton to arrive this Saturday, the Pella High girls’ basketball team has had a fantastic opportunity to rest up and work on themselves as their 2016 postseason debut nears. The Lady Dutch ended the regular season with a 17-game winning streak, and allowed a season-low 19 points to Oskaloosa last Friday to wrap things up. While he admits there’s not much you can change or do differently this late in the year, Coach Jerod Garland tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that they may be looking to add a thing or two for the playoffs. Garland says with the lack of competition this week, his team has to stay hungry and keep the urgency to improve at the top of their mind. Due to Dutch Masters on Saturday, the regional semifinal game in the Tulip City has a start time of 8:00 p.m. The play-by-play can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS with Andrew Schneider and the fresh-out-of-retirement Randy Sikkema.
