A taste of spring-like weather will be a welcome break from winter for many, but it may cause issues on roads and in rivers for the rest of the week.

Temperatures more than 20 degrees above average will cause rapid melting of ice and snow, which may cause temporary flooding, unstable ice, and jams along some rivers.

The Marion County Road Department tells KNIA/KRLS that they have closed Elkhorn between Park Hills and Dubuque because a culvert has collapsed. Repairs will begin today.

Beardsley Street near Swan was closed by the Marion County Road Department as well on Wednesday due to an ice jam adjacent to the Des Moines River at Flowing Well Bridge.

Gusty winds up to 40 MPH may also cause issues for drivers of high profile vehicles.
