The Pella City Council is beginning to look at options to potentially change parking on Washington Street along the downtown square.
They discussed a few possibilities during policy and planning following the regular meeting Tuesday. City Administrator Mike Nardini says the city is exploring an ordinance that would remove parking from the north side of the street to straighten the road and make it safer.
He says the council received an engineer’s report that made the recommendation. Nardini says no action was taken at the meeting, and the council would have to pass an ordinance to make the change.
The matter will further be discussed at meetings in March.
