Van Gorp Insurance recently held their annual crop insurance meeting.
The event featured Climatologist Elwynn Taylor and Crop Market Specialist Chad Hart from Iowa State University. Taylor says there is a lot of talk surrounding the impact of a near record-breaking El Nino on this season’s crops. He says there is very wet soil heading into the spring, which may impact many farmers in the eastern half of the state. Hart says producers need to be ready for commodity prices to rebound while they are low now to better set themselves up for future success. At the meeting, Van Gorp Insurance went over the various risks coming up in the year ahead.
