The National Weather Service has released its first spring flood outlook for 2016.

Senior Hydrologist Jeff Zogg tells KNIA/KRLS News the risk of minor river flooding is elevated over the next three months due to the large amount of snow pack in northern Iowa and rapid melting ongoing due to above average temperatures. Zogg says the report allows those along streams to better plan for flood events and for the National Weather Service to better educate the public about the impact of winter precipitation on the state’s waterways. An updated outlook will be available on March 2nd.
