Wrestling in Dubuque on Sunday, the Central wrestling team doubled their output to the NCAA Division III National Tournament from a year ago and pushed four grapplers to the big stage. The Division III Championships will be held in Cedar Rapids next week, and will feature C.J. Pestano, a sophomore at 125 pounds, 184-pounder A.J. McBroom, Ryan Vandall at 165, and Matt Seabold, the All-American from a year ago at 197 pounds. The Dutch finished with 70 points in the team standings, good for sixth place, their best showing in the four-year history of the regional format. Coach Eric Van Kley and assistant coach, Kevin Donahue, were also honored as the Regional Coach and Assistant Coach of the Year, respectively. The National Championships in Cedar Rapids will be held on March 11 and 12, and it’s the first time since ’95 that Central will be sending four wrestlers to the mats on the national stage.
