Having just watched the girls go all the way to the season’s final day, the Pella High boys’ basketball team is set for an encore performance beginning tonight with a showdown against Perry. The Little Dutch are on a 15-game winning streak, besting each defensive scheme and strategy that has been thrown their way, while frustrating opponents with their own stingy, suffocating “D” that has allowed over 60 points just four times this season. The Bluejays do many things like Pella, says Coach Mark Core, and it will all boil down to who is more effective on both sides of the ball. Perry is 5 – 7 against like opponents that the Little Dutch have played this season, including A-D-M, Carlisle, Dallas Center-Grimes, and Norwalk. Pella and Perry will partake in the final game of day two of the state boys’ basketball tournament, and you can hear the play-by-play live on 92.1 KRLS, KNIAKRLS.com, and via our free mobile app. Cory Houser and Mike Buchheit will have the call, with pre-game coverage starting at 7:45 p.m. with tip-off scheduled for 8:15.
