Numerous individuals from high school speech teams competed at the State Individual Events Contest at North Scott High School in Eldridge.

The following students earned All-State Nominations, and will perform at UNI on April 4th:

Pella High:
Mandolin Holmes, Literary Program
Micah Criscuolo, Improvisation
Isaac Zeimetz, Improvisation

Pella Christian:
Kara Zondervan, Acting
Sarah Meyer, Poetry

Pleasantville:
Megan Oliver, Public Address

Lynnville-Sully:
Caleb Jansen, Storytelling

At the state contest, the 35 entries performing for Pella High, 27 entries received overall “I” ratings with 17 receiving straight ones from the three judges in the performance center.

“We were very happy with the results, ” said senior Craig Miller. “It will be the last Speech Team performance for a lot of the seniors on the team, so it is nice to have so many ‘ones’.”

At Pella Christian, all seven students who competed earned overall one ratings, six of which earned at least one highest score possible, in their 11 total events. Madelyn Mann from Melcher-Dallas had 3 one ratings in musical theater. Students from Knoxville (Asa Lenoard and Josie Pickering) and PCM (Karina Van Dyke, Morgan McDowell, Graham Davis, Kinsey Phipps and Sidney Metzge) also participated.
