Tax Coupling was passed out of the Senate unanimously on Tuesday after an agreement was announced last week between House and Senate leaders.
Senator Amy Sinclair tells KNIA/KRLS News that Iowa has coupled to federal tax code since 2011. Sinclair believes that coupling will save Iowans $97 million and keep money in their pockets. The bill met with some difficulties in the Senate after being passed through the House this year. Sinclair claims that it was held up due to legislators on both sides of the aisle wanting to spend more tax dollars this year.
