The estimated population in Marion County remains steady after five years.
According to the latest census numbers from the Iowa State Data Center, 33,294 residents live in the 22nd largest county in Iowa, down 15 residents from 2010 estimates.
Jasper County held a similar trend line to Marion, dipping by less than 0.1%.
The closest counties that grew were Polk–the largest in the state, which jumped 8.6% to over 467,000 residents, and Warren, which grew over 5% to 48,626. Twenty-one counties in the state saw growth. Monroe County has added three people since 2010.
Mahaska County saw a loss of 39 residents overall, and Lucas County lost 216 in the past five years.
Overall, the state of Iowa has grown by approximately 77,000 people since April of 2010. The estimates come from reported births, deaths, domestic migration, and international migration.
