For the first time at home this season, the Central baseball team will take to the diamond for one of their final non-conference tests when Augsburg of Minnesota enters the Tulip City this afternoon. The Dutch have not played since March 12 when they were on Spring Break in Florida, and enter the day with a 2 – 5 record. The Auggies are 7 – 7, but have played the likes of the University of Minnesota earlier this week, and several other strong schools down in Arizona last week. Augsburg is hitting .321 this season and is scoring over nine runs per game through 14 contests. Dutch skipper Matt Schirm says it’ll be another difficult non-conference test to get his team ready for the looming challenges in the Iowa Conference. First game today is scheduled for noon, with game two to follow at roughly 2:30.
