Three Rivers Council held a Young Writers Celebration to honor local student writers Monday night.
The contest recognizes students for longer prose or poetry and encourages them to keep writing.
Brenda Nugteren with the Three Rivers Reading Council tells KNIA/KRLS News developing communication skills in young people is vital.
“This is an opportunity for kids to take those written words and to just become wordsmiths and to enjoy what words can do,” Nugteren says.
Students from Pella Christian and Pella from grades K-12 showcased their written pieces to an audience by reading them out loud at Pella Christian Grade School.
