A public hearing date has been set for the West Substation Ring Bus electrical improvements on May 2.

The Pella City Council met this week to discuss changes and give authorization to the project.

City Administrator Mike Nardini told KNIA/KRLS news the changes will help prevent power outages under current conditions.

“So the theory is, is if there’s a fault under any one of those connections, we’ll be able to isolate that connection and repair that connection while the rest of the substation remains in service,” he says.

The estimated cost for this project is approximately $3 million.
