Upgrades continue for the City of Pella’s water system.

The Pella City Council approved a change to the approximately $16 million long-term improvement plan at their most recent meeting. City Administrator Mike Nardini says an improvement to an underground storage system will be made after construction crews discovered a common tar-like substance on the roof of the tank. He says it’s more efficient to remove the material while making larger improvements now.

Nardini emphasizes the substance did not negatively impact the city’s current water supply.
