The Columbia Fire Department was awarded a $2,500 grant by Monsanto’s America’s Farmers Grow Communities program.

Kevin and Phyllis Dittmer, farmers who nominated the fire department for the grant said they were pleased that they could help the department. Fire Chief John Pierce tells KNIA/KRLS News the fire department will likely use the funds to purchase a new defibrillator. Pierce adds that the township has such a small tax base, that they appreciate any extra funding they may receive.
