A man accused of sexually abusing a young girl in Pella has changed his plea.

John D. Veenstra, 52, pled guilty to two counts of lascivious acts with a child, both class C felonies. Marion County Attorney Ed Bull tells KNIA/KRLS News the state is seeking a twenty year prison term.

The Pella Police Department concluded an investigation last year into multiple assaults they say occurred over a three year period from 2006 to 2009 involving a single victim, who was under the age of 12 at the time. Veenstra was originally charged with three counts of sexual abuse in the 2nd degree, each a class B felony.

A sentencing hearing is set for July 1st at 9:30 a.m.
