It is April 20, known among the cannabis consuming community as “420.” The day celebrates smoking pot and the number 420 has become a fixture of both legal and illegal marijuana use nationwide.

Highway 420 signs in Colorado have been changed to 419.99 after being repeatedly stolen by enthusiastic advocates of the counterculture holiday. Lieutenant Aaron Fuller of the Knoxville Police Department tells KNIA/KRLS News it’s an exciting day at the police department. Fuller encourages 420 participants to bring used pipes and bongs to the station, to receive special service in recognition of the day. Marijuana use is illegal in the state of Iowa.
